HELP!!! I AM DEPRESSED

Image

Yawn…… *saying to self*… boy o boy…I so need to change my sleeping habits. In the last week, I have been on a caffeine binge which has lead to me having very little sleep at night…leading to my constant twitching eyes plus an extreme addiction to SUGAR!!!!!… Thus I am so glad it is the weekend where I am going to justtttt….. LIE ABOUT….. LOUNGE OUT… .CRASH OUT … u get me bruv!!!… I mean without doubt … like complete ….*doing the azonto*…PASS OUT … ehheheh* well I say that now .. Only God knows what I will get up to….. With my activity addicted self heheheheh…..

Lately I have noticed a lot of people have been taking their own life…… which is so sad. For example …Film director Tony Scott jumping off an LA bridge. Recently I also read about a 29 year old lady, an investment banker who just jumped off a restaurant balcony leaving a suicide note in her hand bag

Come onnn…now…!!!. Why would one be so selfish to end one’s life and take it away from people that love them so much because they feel they can’t cope or feel too depressed (one of the human race’s most common and distressing afflictions)…. to continue an existence on earth.

Often we use the expression “I ‘m felling depressed”. (I know I have in the past)… when we’re feeling sad or miserable about life. Saying stuff like * I feel detached from the world around me.* Emotions –like love, affection, joy, happiness, disappears while bad emotions like FEAR, anxiety takes complete residence… silly isn’t it ……but it is true, I think some people just fail to realise that THESE FEELINGS PASS IN DUE COURSE……

There is no cause of depression. However depression in severe cases (clinical depression) can be life- threatening, because it can make people suicidal or simply give up the will to live……Depression is seen by some experts as a form of unfinished mourning. Often events or experiences that trigger depression can also be seen as a loss of some kind. It could be following the actual death of someone close, a major life change (such as moving house or changing jobs) or simply moving from one phase of life into another. It’s not just the negative experience that causes the depression, but how we deal with it. If the feelings provoked are not expressed or explored at the time, they fester and contribute towards depression…. *hmmmm did I hear you say *Girl.. You are talking from experience right!!!! *… heheheheh

Sometimes depression could be rooted in sin. You will never be at peace if you ignore something in your life that you know is against God’s will (I Timothy 1:19). If you know you are doing or have done something against God’s will, admit to God that it is wrong. Then ask His help in doing what is right. If you admit your sin and turn from it, God has promised to forgive you completely, and cleanse you from the sin (I John 1:9). Trust Him to do it…..*loll…..and yet again … I can hear u say in *pidgin English*..*kia belike say this babe’s experience don provoke personal visitation from Jesus 000* hehehehe …Ps… excuse my French… I am an African girl who likes to indulge in some indigenous English… heheheheh … ok on a more serious note ……….

The Bible says that Jesus “bore our griefs” on the cross (Isaiah 53:4 ). He feels our pain as strongly as we do and will carry it for us. Give your hurt to Him. Then resolve not to dwell on it again. *in my fake Essex accent* Oooaaiight!!! Lollll…

Right .. Since we are best palss now!!!! Let me ask you this….. What do you think about right before you feel depressed? Do you think such things as “I’m no good,” or “I can’t do anything right,” or “This situation will never change”? It’s vitally important for you to find out what God says is the truth about you and your life. Read the Bible closely to find out what is the real truth (Ephesians 1:18-19). Once you find out the wonderful things God says about you, stop repeating negative things to yourself (God knows I am still learning how to do this). Instead, memorize and repeat to yourself the truths you find in the Bible that contradict the negative thoughts.

I want you to fill your thoughts with such truths as: “For I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power” (Philippians 4:13); “Overwhelming victory is mine through Christ who loved me enough to die for me” (Romans 8:37)

Depression has one major characteristic that you need to be aware of when thinking about what you can do to defeat it. It can feed on itself. In other words, you get depressed and then you get more depressed about being depressed. Negative thoughts become automatic and are difficult for you to challenge. Being in a state of depression can then, itself, become a bigger problem than the difficulties that caused it in the first place… deep right… but trust me it is a FACT…. So ME DEARS……You need to break the hold that the depression has on you.

An important thing to remember is that there are no instant solutions to problems in life. Solving problems involves time, energy and work… Trust me I learnt that the hard way…. better still I am still progressing on that learning curve.

Now say this with me *try it … trust me it helps* … I say it all the time… 1 .2. 3 GO..oo…“I might be hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed… Therefore I do not lose heart. Outwardly I feel I am wasting away, yet inwardly I am being renewed day by day. So I fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” ( 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 ,16-18… BOOM!!! )).

*Nigerian accent* …Ok OK Ok!!! Enough of this deep talk mennn … oooo shoot….. I feel “depressed now”…LOL… … my precious lunch time has been spent writing this instead of getting my GRUB on… heheheh …. Just joking peeps…….. Think about it … why should YOU be depressed erhhh… * come on SNAP OUT OF IT….

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)…

Have a Fabio weekend…… More rant to come xxxx

  1. @anxiouselephant…. I appologise if my statement offended you in anyway.. I believe what I am trying to say is that the act of suicide is selfish not the individual who commits it. I knw what it feels like to suffer from depression at an extreem level because I have been there. Therefore know how hard it is to control your thoughts. I have seen the pain a little girl has had to go through when her mum committed suicide. Thus I feel the act is selfish because it causes a lot of pain to love ones.

  2. I don’t think it’s fair to say that people who commit suicide are selfish. When depression really takes hold of you, you can no longer think rationally. I’m not trying to be rude, it’s just that some people may be offended by some of what you have written as it’s a bit thoughtless.
